The Heart of the Project
The essence of the Buddhist belief in rebirth is that our energy is carried forward. We are considered to be an endless energy passing from one to the next, much like the flame of a candle lighting another. The flame transfers, but the new flame carries its own identity.
We lost a dear friend in 2012. Adi (ah-dee) sold candles on Etsy, but when he fell sick the business went to the wayside. We retrieved the remaining supplies from his family and began to develop a new candle in his honor, centered around the Buddhist belief of rebirth. Funded in January 2014 on Indiegogo.
We shared the light of hundreds, across the world in over 400 cities.
The Technology
We utilized the most recent advancements in Google Chrome technology to develop a dynamic living landscape, which garnered us an Honorable Mention from Awwwards.com—an international awards platform that acknowledges the talent and dedication of outstanding web designers, developers, and agencies worldwide.
This interactive experience employs geo-location to position users within an engaging landscape, inviting them to share messages and illuminate the night sky.
