In a world where sustainability and conscious living are becoming increasingly important, the Chikless app emerges as a delightful solution to one of the most significant environmental challenges we face - our meat consumption. Chikless invites us all to come together to curb our carbon footprint, promote healthier eating, and contribute to the welfare of our planet and its inhabitants, one meal at a time.

The Veggie Revolution Starts Here

Many of us aspire to embrace a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle, recognizing the environmental and ethical benefits. However, making that switch can be daunting, and the all-or-nothing approach often leaves our good intentions by the wayside.

Chikless understands that change is a journey, not an instant transformation. It encourages users to take a more gradual, sustainable path towards a plant-based diet. The app's primary focus is to help users eat less meat and transition to more veggie-based meals in a way that's both achievable and enjoyable.

Your Personalized Meal Plan

Chikless doesn't just throw you into the deep end of vegetarianism; it holds your hand through the process. The app provides you with a personalized meal plan that not only aligns with your dietary preferences but also considers your carbon footprint. It's like having a personal chef and environmentalist rolled into one.

Community Support

Embarking on any lifestyle change is easier when you have a supportive community by your side. Chikless connects users with like-minded individuals who share their passion for reducing meat consumption and creating a positive impact on the environment. Here, you'll find encouragement, tips, and even delicious meatless recipes to keep you inspired on your journey.

Setting Realistic Goals

One of Chikless' standout features is its flexibility. It allows users to set their own pace and goals. Whether you want to go full vegetarian, embrace a vegan lifestyle, or simply reduce your meat intake, Chikless adapts to your aspirations. It's about progress, not perfection.

Join the (Part-Time) Vegetarian Challenge

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of Chikless is the (Part-Time) Vegetarian Challenge. This initiative invites users to take a pledge to eat fewer meat-based meals and opt for veggie alternatives. It's a collective effort to reduce our carbon footprint, save chickens, and make a meaningful impact on the factory farming industry.

By joining the challenge, you become part of a global movement that's redefining our relationship with food. It's not about deprivation; it's about making conscious choices that benefit our health, the environment, and animal welfare.

Luang Prabang is one of those hidden treasures. It’s a place you may have read about in your Lonely Planet book or heard whispers of through the traveling community or via travel blogs, but it doesn’t seem to be on the main-stream tourist agenda quite yet. It’s getting there, I’m afraid. It’s hard to keep such a magical place a secret for very long.

I think our Adventures Resource Guide sums up the city perfectly (therefor I need not change a single word): “Luang Prabang is the splendid old capital of Laos, featuring a cluster of shimmering royal temples and remnants of the faded grandeur of the Lao Monarchy. The town is often described as jewel-like – tiny and compact. It is one of those Southeast Asian cities that most people have heard of, with preconceptions surpassed once visited. The unique character and charm of Luang Prabang helps to make it one of the most popular destinations in the country, with its laid-back lifestyle, numerous temples and friendly people.”

Experience Laos through the Royal Palace Museum

Learn a bit about the history of your host country as you spend an hour or two checking out the Royal Palace Museum. The museum is the former royal residence and also the only time I ever recall being barefoot at a museum, as you’re not allowed to wear shoes inside the museum! Apart from the Royal Museum, other Wats (temples) like Wat Xieng Thong, Wat Long Khoun and Wat Wisunarat are also worth visiting.

Learn to Cook Laotian Food

Luang Prabang is known as the best place in all of Laos to learn to cook traditional dishes. Classes are either full or half day and most classes begin with a trip to the local market to shop for fresh ingredients. Next, you’ll return to the class to begin learning how to prepare the dishes you’ve chosen.

Portions are large so the best thing to do is for everyone to choose a different dish to learn, prepare and then share with others in class. This way you’ll be able to try a bit of everything! Most schools include a cookbook in the price of the class so you can (attempt to) make the dishes for friends when you’re back home. Best way to experience Laos.

Visit to the Pak Ou Caves

One of Luang Prabang’s most famous sites, these limestone caves near the Mekong have been a place of worship for more than a thousand years.

A trip down to see the many Buddha structures varying in shapes and sizes is also a highlight when in Luang Prabang. You can get a glimpse of the mighty Mekong River while you’re at it. You can either join a tour or rent a motorcycle and drive yourself to the port where you can catch a local boat to the cave.

Hopefully, this post has given you a glimpse into the many awesome things to do around Luang Prabang. This city is a real highlight in my Southeast Asian travels and is a place that I urge everyone to visit.

Embark on a vibrant journey through Phuket, Thailand’s island gem, where each nook unfolds a unique tale, from the spirited atmospheres of beach locales to the serene majesty of towering statues, and the adventurous allure of coastal expeditions. Let's explore three of Phuket’s must-visit attractions: the lively Patong Beach, the adventurous James Bond Island boat tour, and the tranquil Big Buddha.

Dance with the Waves at Patong Beach in Scenic Phuket

Nestled on the west coast of the island, Patong Beach unfurls a rich tapestry of vibrant life, golden sands, and the ceaseless murmur of the Andaman Sea. As the sun mellows into a soft glow, heralding the evening, Patong’s famed nightlife awakens. From the effervescent Bangla Road, abuzz with lively bars, street performances, and an eclectic array of dining options, to the rhythmic beats emanating from beach clubs, Patong Beach is where the island’s energetic pulse beats strongest, offering a spirited blend of relaxation and exhilaration.

Sail into Adventure with a James Bond Island Boat Tour

Journey into the turquoise waters of Phang Nga Bay as you set sail towards the iconic James Bond Island (Ko Tapu), renowned for its striking needle-like rock formation and cinematic fame in "The Man with the Golden Gun". Embark on a boat tour that weaves through majestic limestone karsts, each with tales of geological epochs and local lore.

The adventures extend beyond the famed James Bond Island. Explore hidden lagoons, navigate through mangrove forests, and perhaps even paddle through serene waters, enveloped by the towering cliffs above. A boat tour here is not merely a sightseeing excursion but a passage through the natural wonders that dot scenic Phuket’s neighboring waters.

Seek Tranquility at the Big Buddha

Perched atop Nakkerd Hill, the Big Buddha (officially named Phra Puttamingmongkol Akenakkiri Buddha) casts a benevolent gaze upon the island, embodying a serene majesty that beckons visitors to ascend its heights. Towering at 45 meters, this illustrious statue is not only a revered landmark but also a vantage point offering panoramic views of Phuket.

A gentle hush envelops the locale, where the melodic chime of small bells and soft whispers of prayers craft a tranquil ambiance. Whether offering a moment of reflection, capturing the sweeping views with your camera, or simply basking in the peaceful atmosphere, a visit to the Big Buddha imprints a moment of serenity on your Phuket adventure.

In Phuket, diverse experiences entwine, crafting a tapestry where vibrant nightlife, adventurous explorations, and tranquil moments coexist in harmonious concert. From the lively shores of Patong Beach and the adventurous waves en route to James Bond Island, to the serene heights by the Big Buddha, Phuket welcomes you to a world where every moment promises a new discovery. Soak it all in and let the memories of this island paradise linger in your soul long after your journey ends.
